Misty mornings in May

Misty mornings in May: mysterious landscape hiding on a mist, soft light, moist on the trees falling down, hare jumping, deer sleeping, gray and hazy.

Two hares, one deer

I woke up early in the morning and without breakfast started my journey on a misty nature. Two brown hares were jumping on the road. I continued my way to the field, because sun was already warming the air and the mist started to disappear.

Walking on the field, birds singing, otherwise it was still silent. I saw two ears and some peaks in the ground. White-tailed deer was sleeping on the field 10 m away from me. I sat down. Click, click, my camera was clicking. The deer was waving its ears, noticed me, scared, rose up and jumped into the forest. I was in a heaven, as I got so near to that beautiful animal.

Home of the deers

Home of the deers is part of the nature reserve. Falling trees lie on the ground and they rot as time passes. The area is located by the lake LohjanjÀrvi and there are many birds and animals like deers. First time I heard deer bellowing I had a scare as the sound is really loud and parking. Usually when they have a scare they start to bellow.

Misty morning is ending

Misty morning is ending as the sun has warmed the air. When walking back home I see this landscape partly hidden with the mist. Forest is really multiform and there are at least birch, aspen, spruce, willow, pine growing. It is well designed and the mist gives very elegant nuance to the landscape.

Three photos of the same landscape with different focal lengths: 70, 85 and 200 mm (ISO 100, F/7.1, 1/500 sec). These photos are photographed 5th of May 2020 in a field near our cottage in Lohja.

I started this photo blog this spring. I love photographing and spend hours in the nature. My theme is Finnish nature and I photograph landscape, animals and birds. Finland is a country in Northern Europe. You can read more here Finnish nature.

Thank you for reading my blog and I am glad if you leave a short comment!

    1. Thank you Donna! I was lucky to wake up early enough. The warmer the sun is, sooner the mist disappears and to get some nice photos, one has to bee quick 🙂

    1. Thank you! Especially I enjoy mornings when the wind is blowing and the mist is moving rapidly. It must be beautiful in San Francisco when it is foggy and misty 🙂

      1. I like moody weather as compared to bright sunny weather. San Francisco has its own beauty when it is foggy. It is almost gothic and ethereal. Maybe that was why Alfred Hitchcock filmed many of his movies in the San Francisco Bay Area. 🙂
