Robin and Fiskars ax

Robin and Fiskars ax is one of my favorite bird photos. You may think why! There are two things in the picture that I love: delightful bird and worldwide famous Finnish brand.

Robin (Erithacus rubecula, punarinta)

Robin is such a hilarious bird. Its appearance is round and its chest is beautifully rusty. Robin arrives in Finland beginning of April and usually it can be found somewhere in a shrub or standing in an ax!

I have photographed these photos in April 2019 at the time when we were building our cottage in Lohja. Robin was watching our firewood chopping and while I had some brake he decided to try my ax too. Luckily I had my camera in the car and robin had time for a pose.

He returned this spring and was singing very loudly in the forest until midsummer. I have seen him around our yard quite often this summer and I hope he will return also next year.

If you are interested to listen its sing, here is a link to the page where you can hear it: LINK. If you are interested in Fiskars you can read more about it in my previous post My favorite village, Fiskars.

  1. Our robins are more elongated and bigger, but they are clearly related. The axe and robin are wearing matching colours. 🙂 I think it’s a good idea to try to sell the picture to them.

  2. Such a pretty bird! Fiskars might like your photo for advertising.
I didn’t know Fiskars made axes. Besides some scissors I also have a Fiskars
plant and stem trimmer. If I ever need an ax I now know which one to buy 😀

    1. Fiskars has had even boats but they sold that business to China😏 They manufacture also tableware and they own many brands like Iittala (glass ware). I love to visit their shops👍, usually it means that my wallet is thinner when I leave the shop 😂
