In the forest you will find peace of mind

In the forest you will find peace of mind, at least I do. Walking around in the forest effects on mood, as the forest calms and speeds up recovery from stress. Studies show that staying in the woods lowers heart rate and blood pressure quickly, also muscle tension decreases.

I have felt myself more relaxed this year. The reason is Corona isolation in Lohja: I have spent nearly all my free time in the nature wondering around with my camera.

Here are some photos I have taken from Finnish forest. I hope these photos give you positive energy as they have given me.

Mysterious misty forest

If you are following my blog you may have realized that I LOVE Misty mornings. Mist changes the landscape making the view more interesting and that’s why I am so fascinated about the mist. This time I will show you my mysterious misty forest photos photographed in May and June.

Forest during spring, summer, autumn and winter

The sounds, light, underbrush, leaves, colors in forest during spring, summer, autumn and winter are different:

Spring – light green colors, birds arriving, awakening from hibernation
Summer – full of energy, berries, birds nesting, dark green colors, couple of hours dark
Autumn – bright colors, fresh air, mushrooms, birds migrating
Winter – snow, couple of hours light, frost, hibernation, silence

If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise

Here are last photos to my forest post. I encourage you to go to the forest and experience the atmosphere there. If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise as in a children’s song Teddy bears picnic is written.

Some facts

Some facts about Finnish forest: forests cover about 75% of Finland’s land area and we have around 30 different species growing in Finland. The most common trees are pine, spruce and birch.

Silver birch (Betula pendula) is Finland’s national tree

  2. Your photographs are wonderful and so is your beautiful forest and your stunning national trees! I think it would take me time to adjust to only two hours of light/darkness, but I know I would love it there and find peace.

    1. Thank you, nice that you liked my photos. For me it is sometimes difficult during summer to sleep as there is too much light. During winter it is dark and people get easily depressed. But you get used to it, at least during winter is much easier to sleep! Finland is a country of thousands lakes and green forests. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you Denise! We have also aspen growing in Finland. It´s trunk is grey while birch is black & white. Have a great day!

  3. Minna, these photos are spectacular! You have captured the beauty of the forest perfectly.
The Teddy Bear Picnic made me smile. 🙂 Here’s a link to the Henry Hall1932 recording:
